Two
Oceans Sport Fishing Charters offer a professional service for Sport
Fishing, Fly fishing, Spear Fishing and Pelagic Birdwatching in Cape
Town.
Cape
Town, situated at the southern most tip of Africa is a hotspot for
Sport Fishing. Seasonal coastal upwelling provides the base of the
food chain and is the key to this incredibly productive system. The
upwelling supports huge shoals of clupeiod fishes such as sardine
and herring. These vast shoals of baitfish attract large numbers of
predators such as pelagic and inshore fish, pelagic and coastal sea
birds, cetaceans, sharks and seals.
Cape
Town is a must do destination for Sport Fishing, Birdwatching and
Marine Wildlife enthusiasts. Joining us onboard our new boat, Obsession
for a days charter will be a life experience. Our IGFA Certified Captain,
and qualified Marine Biologist, David Christie, grew up in Cape Town
and has fished these waters his whole life. His experience as a captain,
extensive knowledge of local fishing conditions, unbelievable catch
record and professional service has made him the favored choice for
sportfishermen. This is clearly evident in the number guests who return
to fish with Two Oceans Sport Fishing time and time again as well
as the friendships that have been built up over the years.
Our
predominant offshore target species are yellowfin tuna (from 40kgs
to 120kgs), longfin or albacore tuna (between 10 and 25kgs), mako
and blue shark (we have a catch and release policy on sharks) and
occasionally dorado. Although several are hooked each season, Marlin
are not targeted by many sportfishermen in our waters as the yellowfin
tuna are so prolific, and are most often hooked on lures trolled for
yellowfin tuna.
Inshore
we mainly target yellowtail (up to 12kgs) and cape snoek (up to 10kgs).
These species often travel in large schools and can provide hectic
sport, especially on light tackle. Other species we catch include
cape salmon, kob as well as reef shark species. During our tuna fishing
seasons when the water is warm inshore, we sometimes catch yellowfin
and longfin tuna right by the coast. On several occasions last season
we caught yellowfin tuna right at Cape Point. These fish weighed in
around the 60kg mark and were taken on light tackle, providing excellent
sport.
David
has pioneered fly fishing for yellowfin tuna in Cape Town and is with
no doubt the leader in this challenging field. In October 2005 David
landed a yellowfin tuna on fly fishing tackle weighing in at 76kgs.
Since beginning to target monster yellowfin tuna on fly fishing gear,
a sport we call Extreme Fly Fishing, many fly fishermen have been
successfully guided by David and now |
