Evita's Perron was established in 1995 by Pieter Dirk Uys at the train station of the quaint town called Darling. Offering the visitor two theatres with cabaret shows, comedy and music, a restaurant, a Craft and Skills centre as well as a museum in a beautiful part of the Swartland, you should not miss this little gem when you visit the Western Cape.

Pieter-Dirk Uys has been known since the apartheid days for his most famous alter-ego Evita Bezuidenhout, the "most famous white woman in South Africa ". The cabaret shows and Pieter's sense of humour and satirical look at our development as a democratic society is South African insight at its best. Though Evita Bezuidenhout is the hostess when she is in Darling, you will meet various family members and comedy sketch characters in the shows we all have grown to love through the years in the shows.

Varied shows are presented at lunchtime and in the evenings, with the main attraction of naturally being the Pieter Dirk Uys shows. Visitors should note that some shows are done in English as well as others in Afrikaans, so check out the theatre program at www.evita.co.za for more information on the different shows at Evita's Perron.

Although Darling is an easy day drive from Cape Town, it is truly a more memorable experience to stay over in Darling and not just enjoy the excellent cabaret shows, but also meet the thriving arty community in the district, and enjoy the excellent wines and food produced by this region.

The annual Wildflower Show is also held in Darling on the third weekend in September.
