Centrally
situated a mere 2.5 kms from the town centre. Guadeloupe Self
Catering cottages & apartments overlook the Knysna Lagoon
from a hilltop, at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. Although close
to all the shops & amenities, its special location gives the
visitor a feeling of being in the countryside - with wonderful
views onto the Knysna Lagoon itself.
View of the Top and Bottom cottages - each has its own private
patio & weber braai; there is a nine metre pool for use by
guests. The cottages are fully self -contained units, with an
open-plan kitchen which opens onto the lounge, which sleeps two
persons on an excellent quality double sleeper couch. We do recommend
these cottages however for two adults and two children. The main
bedroom in each cottage has built-in cupboards; all linen, extra
blankets etc. provided. Each main bedroom has an en suite bathroom
with a separate bath & shower in it. There all wall panel
heaters to keep out the Winter chill, and fans for the Summer
heat.Towel changes done regularly - our units are serviced daily
in season and out of season ( with the exception of Sundays. )
our emphasis being on cleanliness & comfort.
There is safe on-premises parking and each unit is supplied with
a gate control for easy access. We offer a full laundry service
- by prior arrangement your washing is washed and ironed - simply
leave the washing in the laundry basket provided, and place it
in the bath for collection when the rooms are serviced. |
Knysna
nestles on the banks of a beautiful lagoon in the heart of the
‘Garden Route’ of South Africa. It is surrounded by
a natural paradise of lush indigenous forests, tranquil lakes
and golden beaches, making it a real natural wonderland.
Galleries/Arts & Crafts: as a result of a relaxed lifestyle,
Knysna has over the years, attracted a wide variety of art and
crafters, creating an artists' paradise. There are numerous galleries
where one can enjoy the local arts and crafts and appreciate the
talent and work that is produced here. The highly successful Knysna
Arts Festival - a collection of visual and performing arts - takes
place over a 10 day period from 27th September until 7th October.
Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe: One of the last single gauge operational
steam trains in the world travels between Knysna and George. Re-live
travel of the years past and enjoy the magnificent scenery of
the Garden Route.
Oysters are cultivated right here in the Knysna Lagoon and served
in most of the local restaurants. The Knysna Oyster Company established
in 1949, is situated on Thesen Islands and offers daily educational
tours, accompanied by fine cuisine.
Birdlife: more than 280 species of birds are listed in and around
Knysna and many water birds abound Thesen Islands, Steenbok Park
and further afield at Groenvlei and Swartvlei Lakes along the
Rheenendal Ramble.
Forest Walks: the nearby forests provide ample opportunity for
leisurely walks or picnics, short hikes or, for the serious hiker,
more strenuous day walks; plus a number of biking trails for variouslevels
of cyclists.
A moderate climate: and a fine selection of accommodation, restaurants
and enjoyable activities make Knysna the perfect holiday destination.
The Featherbed Nature Reserve, a unique 150 ha private Nature
Reserve, encompasses the whole of the Western Head of Knysna and
one of South Africa's Premier Natural Heritage Sites.
Beaches, rivers, lakes and lagoons provide ample opportunity for
watersports, while mountains and forests beckon hikers, riders,
and cyclists. A range of eco-adventure companies offer safe, guided
acitivities.
Knysna
has become a hub in the Garden Route for sporting events, including
cycle races, forest marathons and tournaments of various descriptions.
