university town of Stellenbosch, it is ideally located for exploring
what is one of South Africa’s oldest communities. Many
of the original buildings have been faithfully restored, giving
visitors a glimpse of life in the town 200 and even 300 years
ago. There are many outstanding examples to see of Cape Dutch
domestic architecture, mainly along Dorp Street, as well as
several leading art galleries, museums, beautiful boutiques,
antique shops, jewelers, farm stalls and an exciting range of
restaurants, bistros and brasseries,
Saturday morning organic and flea markets provide a wonderful
opportunity for browsing and engaging with the area’s
creative talent.
Kleine Zalze also lies on the Stellenbosch Wine Route, South
Africa’s most prominent wine route and source of most
of the country’s award-winning wines, making it the perfect
base from which to learn firsthand about the country’s
famous names in wines.
Golfers can indulge virtually on the spot at the De Zalze Golf
Course, one of the Cape’s finest venues and continue at
a range of other top-ranking courses, each no more than 20 minutes’
drive.
